COMMENT: Cord Trust is a value brand subsidiary of Viacell, a publicly-traded biotech company (Nasdaq:VIAC) which also owns the family bank Viacord. This brand has less aggressive marketing and customer service, but offers families the benefits of Cord Blood banking at a significant cost saving.

SERVICES & DISCOUNT OPTIONS:

Cord Blood collection is with Baxter blood bags, not the sterile and closed Pall bags used by Viacord.
Courier transport is available but shipments are carried by FedEx, not the next plane out service of Quick International. Transport times are still under 48 hours.
At the Viacell Cord Blood processing laboratory, CordTrust collections are processed on a separate line with a less expensive processing method.
The CordTrust collections are manually processed to remove plasma, but not red-cell depleted.
The parent company Viacell has provided cord blood for 11 transplants using this processing method.
Final storage is in a single blood bag without compartments.
No enrollment fee. First year storage included in processing fees.
The first year cost of this program is $1200, payable in 12 monthly payments of $100.
